Climate in Minorca

Minorca

The climate is warm and very humid if compared to the rest of the archipelago. For those who have only stayed in Menorca in summer, it is difficult to imagine the explosion of greens present throughout the rest of the year. With the exception of generalised drought years, the regular rainfall and abundance of winter dew compensates for the lack of rainfall in August. Furthermore, the island has a very particular relationship with the wind: the absence of natural obstacles exposes it to all its battering. The winds from the northern quadrant dominate, but the powerful tramuntana blows with more force and insistence, with speeds that range from 35 kph to over 90 kph. It has a stunning effect on the environment, the trees and shrubs taking on strange leaning formations, but it also guarantees a surplus of clear skies, a clean atmosphere and radiant sunshine. Extremely low temperatures are unknown and one needs to refer to the records to see when the last snowfall was. In summer, the average temperature is 25º and in winter 12º.
